Anchor Iron Wharf, Hoskins Street / Lassell Street SE10 TQ 3893 7822 MoLAS (Julian Bowsher) evaluation March-April 2001 Berkeley Homes (City & East London) Ltd. LAS01
The natural drift geology at the site, River Terrace Gravel, was overlain by up to 1.5m of alluvial silts. Cut features within these silts contained 17th and 18th century deposits. Structural remains of the 16th to 20th centuries were also encountered. The earliest is likely to be associated with the "Hobby Stables" of 1532-1533.
