A-level Archaeology Day

Author: Nick Bateman

For the third year in a row Mortimer Wheeler House staff participated in an 'A-level Archaeology Day'. Students from schools and colleges in London and the South-East spent an enjoyable day with staff from the Archaeological Archive (LAARC), MoLAS and the Museum's Dept of Access and Learning.

They learnt about Roman ritual and religion with Angela Wardle, enjoyed a session called from 'Mud to Monograph' with Bruce Watson, as well as receiving practical 'hands-on' sessions with finds and environmental material, including the ever-popular bones!

The day ended with a Question and Answer session with questions such as 'What is the money like?' and 'What is Tony Robinson really like?'

Thanks to Angela Wardle, Bruce Watson, Tony Grey, Graham Kenlin, John Giorgi, Don Walker, Alan Pipe, Kevin Reilly, Steve Tucker, Clare Carlin and Fiona Seeley.
